The October 1 Index · For app vendors
If your app is listed, this page is for you
The index names the app behind each legacy script tag it observes, because merchants cannot act on a finding without knowing which app to ask about. Every named vendor has three free ways to respond, and every response is handled within one business day.
1. Send a correction
If you believe a finding is wrong, email index@statusbird.io with the app name, the store or stores concerned, and what you believe the index has misread. Corrections are published verbatim under your app's row, alongside our reply, within one business day. Nothing is edited and nothing is quietly removed.
2. Submit a migration notice
If you have published a notice to merchants about your migration off the ScriptTag API, send the URL to index@statusbird.io. It is linked from your row the same day. A dated notice is the single most useful thing a merchant can see next to a finding.
3. Request a verified check
If your app has migrated to a theme app extension and removed its old script tags, name up to five stores and we re-fetch each one twice, on different days, with the same method as the index. If none carries your legacy tag, your row is marked Verified migrated with the dates. Email index@statusbird.io with the store domains.
What counts, and what does not
- Only Shopify's rendering of API script tags is counted:
type="text/javascript" async=""in the document head, outside app-block markers. - Theme app extension embeds and app blocks are counted as migrated, never as legacy.
- A store carrying both your extension and an old tag is listed as cleanup only: nothing breaks there on March 1, 2027, and the row says so.
- Scripts a merchant's developer pasted into a theme by hand are not attributed to your app.
The full method is on the methodology page. The dates come from Shopify's developer changelog of August 24, 2026: ScriptTag create and update calls return errors on October 1, 2026; injection stops on March 1, 2027.
Before any vendor is named
Vendors are notified at the contact address on their App Store listing or website at least two business days before their name appears on the index, with the counts and the method, so a reply can accompany the listing from day one.
